        Episode #1: HI THERE

"Why is it so difficult to get good Mexican food? Why was that nice lady letting me merge in front of her? Why does the term "green-card" not work as the punchline of my jokes anymore?"

Chances are that you have left the great bubble of Southern California, and life is going to be a little different. Being a Los Angeles native myself, I've left the confines of palm trees and traffic for the more mellow, rainy, atmosphere of Eugene, Oregon. My emigration process from sunlight to overwhelming vegetation has been smooth but not necessarily easily. I have learned much, but my heart often still yearns for "In and Out" and constant seventy-five degree weather.

Here is my chance and medium to voice my humble opinion. Many of the substitutions I am forced to deal with come up short when compared to what I'm used to in sunny Southern California. At the same time however, the great state of Oregon has divvied up some great alternatives to some seemingly archaic Los Angeles traditions. I have a new-found respect for the Oregon "way of life" since revisiting my homeland for the summer, and admit that Eugene may offer more than polite homeless people and body piercings.
